Far away but still close to the goal | BANHALMI | 2015
The Voice of the Soul
In every artist’s life, there is one creation that gains such a defining weight, that if you seek the pure essence of their life and art, for me, this is that image.
These insights don't happen instantly; they must mature. One must reach a true milestone, looking back on a body of work spanning over twenty-five years (practically growing up alongside digital photography) to finally find that pivotal moment. For many years, like my peers, I felt the pressure to please others, especially my parents.
It was Autumn 2015, and I was in New York, the city I consider the capital of the world. Walking through Brooklyn Bridge Park, I suddenly saw THIS moment, and I was utterly overcome with emotion. It was simultaneously moving, heartbreaking, and exhilaratingly joyful. I immediately identified with the scene. I was that small figure looking at the distant, giant world, and though the great water seemed impassable, he could see the bridge to his dreams.
In that instant, the question crystallized: why shouldn't I be one of the best photographers in the world? And with it, the unshakable resolve: I will never again seek to please anyone! I will walk my own path, pursuing my own dreams and goals.
Three years later, this belief bore fruit: I was selected as a Hungarian brand ambassador for Olympus (OM System). For a photographic artist, recognition by a global brand is the highest form of acknowledgment.
If asked for the photograph of my lifetime, this is it. This image carries the weight of a quarter-century of my journey, and it became the origin of all my success.
With this experience, I launch my collection. Each photograph is paired with a unique musical track, composed to transmit the very state of soul I felt at the moment of creation. The album art for every song is the photograph itself, and the music is available on all major streaming platforms.
An Artistic Proclamation and Patronage
By purchasing this image, the buyer acquires not only the original high-resolution photo file and the original music file (along with the framable canvas print), but also becomes a patron of a profound, noble cause.
The proceeds will fund a special documentary film, created with young talents, to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and Freedom Fight. We will use modern technology to bring to life, in full color, the original black-and-white images of the Revolution’s most respected photographer. We will blend them with authentic sounds likely present during those events, weaving the scenes together through narration. This unique, fact-based documentary will be created with the aim of being published in the global press.
As a patron of the film, the buyer will be credited by name at the beginning and the end. This film is currently in production and is scheduled to debut precisely on October 23, 2026.
